Construction Standards
The difference is in the details you don't see.
Anyone can hammer in a picket. The question is what happens below the frost line, what touches the soil, and what catches water for the next twenty winters.
01
Post depth: 48 inches (1.2 m)
below frost line in every GTA municipality.
02
Concrete footings with gravel drainage
so meltwater runs out, not pools around your post base.
03
Stainless steel fasteners, not galvanized
no rust streaks running down cedar in year three.
04
Cap rails on every run
top-grain water protection, extends picket life by 30%.
05
Documented Locates via Ontario One Call
confirmation number in hand before we break ground.
FAQ
Questions about Wood Fence Installation
Do I need a permit for a wood fence in Toronto?
In Toronto, fences up to 2 m (6.6 ft) in rear/side yards don’t require a building permit, but must comply with Chapter 447. Front-yard fences capped at 1.2 m. We handle the bylaw check.
How much does a wood fence cost in GTA?
PT 6 ft fence: $60–75/linear ft installed. Cedar: $80–100/ft. Horizontal modern: $100–145/ft (separate service). Minimum charge $2,500. Project starting at $3,000.
Who pays if the fence is on the property line?
Under Ontario’s Line Fences Act, both neighbours share responsibility. We recommend written agreement before starting — we provide a template.
How long does installation take?
Typical residential project (80–150 ft): 1–2 working days. Weather and locate-clearance timing can shift start date by a few days.
Are there hidden fees?
No. The written quote you sign is the invoice you pay. If anything genuinely unforeseen comes up mid-project (extreme soil conditions, hidden obstacles), we stop work, discuss with you, and you decide before we proceed.
